A Field Guide to Pacific States Wildflowers - This is the book I use most extensively. I have used my copy for years and am now using this latest edition. It is my number one reference source for the west coast. Line drawings. |

Marin Flora, Manual of the Flowering Plants and Ferns of Marin County, California - This is a good book, but really a key with scientific terminology. Only a very few photos, no drawings. I use it to try and determine what species possibilities there are when I'm uncertain of a plant. |

Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Wildflowers, Western Edition - Another good general reference, this one with photos. I often use this for their little family symbols when I'm having difficulty id'ing a plant. It will usually get me close enough so I can then hone in with a book more specific to the area. |

A Flora of Sonoma County - Similar to the Marin Flora. This is my home county and I use this book quite regularly. |

Plants of the San Francisco Bay Region, Mendocino to Monterey - For wildflowering in the San Francisco Bay Area this is my favorite book. Lots of photos with a detailed description of the plant. It also helps to narrow down the species for specific locale. |
 |
Flowers of Point Reyes National Seashore - Arranged by plant family with illustrations of each plant. Good for this specific location. |
